In the face of this golden and historic opportunity, Zhuhai Municipal Government conducted thorough research and demonstration and made the decision to establish Zhuhai Shizimen Central Business District (hereinafter referred to as the "Business District") under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Guangdong Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Guangdong Province. Later, Zhuhai Municipal Government authorized Zhuhai Shizimen Central Business District Development Holdings Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the wholly-owned state-owned enterprise (SOE) Huafa Group to take full charge of the overall planning and design, primary land development, municipal infrastructure, key project construction, and investment promotion of the Business District, which covers an area of 5.77 k㎡.
On June 28, 2010, the Business District was officially launched, and basically formed the industrial development pattern featuring "two bases and one platform" (i.e., the Financial Industrial Base, the Headquarters Economy Base, and the High-end Business Service Platform). As the inaugural key project of the Business District, Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center (hereinafter referred to as the "ZHCEC") was put into construction the same year.
On October 30, 2014, ZHCEC complex, with multiple facilities including the exhibition and conference venue, restaurant, hotel, theater, and Grade-A office building, was grandly opened. Since its inauguration, ZHCEC has been introducing domestic first-class exhibition & convention service concepts and rich management experience to provide superb services for exhibitions and conventions of all kinds. In addition to winning a high reputation in the industry, ZHCEC has been a strong propeller to the rapid growth of Zhuhai's exhibition and convention industry and has become a new model of the exhibition and convention sector in Southern China.
