The design concept of a streamlined "urban ribbon" drives the flow of people, visually and physically connecting the waterfront to the entire city. The "Urban Ribbon" features a series of public facilities, including restaurants, commercial and cultural facilities, that constantly breathe life into the main square and garden area. These communal facilities ensure effective public connectivity while isolating the more private Spaces within the complex. It also ensures that pedestrians can still walk freely in the square area during the exhibition.
Project Location
Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center Phase II, located on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary in China, is a key construction project of the Central Cross Men Business District to promote the transformation of Zhuhai into a financial hub in China. With a total floor area of 192,000 square meters, the project not only has world-class exhibition facilities, flexible office space and diversified retail space, but also provides waterfront public activity space.
Design concept
The "Urban Ribbon" features a series of public facilities, including restaurants, commercial and cultural facilities, that constantly breathe life into the main square and garden area. These communal facilities ensure effective public connectivity while isolating the more private Spaces within the complex. It also ensures that pedestrians can still walk freely in the square area during the exhibition.
The public space of the second phase of the project is further extended along the "urban ribbon". Through the setting of overhead terraces, the courtyard and the rest garden with a sense of hierarchy are formed to meet the needs of public activities and the convention center. Moreover, the public level of the project has an area of about 8,500 square meters of overhead public viewing platform, including catering facilities. As a result, the observation deck is not only a public amenity for the city, but also adds to the landscape space of the project.
